- This Demonstration is freeware. You may distribute it as much as you
- want (Actually, pass it around like crazy!) but you may not sell it or
- use it in a form that will gain profit.
- You also cannot alter the program.
-
- We allow the organizers of Assembly '94 exclusive CD-ROM distribution
- rights according to the guidelines stated in the official Asm '94
- documents.
-
- System requirements:
- - At least a 386 computer. (486 is much better)
- - 565 K conventional memory or more.
- - Gravis UltraSound for music.
- - About 11 minutes of spare time.
- Files required (included, unless your copy is faulty):
- - "Accident.exe"
- - "Accident.001"
- - "Accident.002"
- - "Accident.003"
- - "Accident.DOC"
-
- This demo was designed to run on a fast computer, in this case a 486
- DX. Any type of 486 is recommended, but to achieve optimum speed and
- quality, a computer as fast as a 486 DX 33 would be excellent.
- Also, such things as a local bus video card would raise the smoothness
- of the visual effects.
- A GUS (Gravis UltraSound) is required to have the accompanying
- music play in the backgound.
- As for memory, The Accident is very lenient. Only about 565 K of
- conventional memory is needed. Believe it or not, EMS is not needed in
- this demo... So those evil handlers such as EMM386 and QEMM will not
- affect it.
-
- There are also two parameters you can input with the command line.
- The first one will determine where in the demo you will begin, and the
- second one can adjust the volume.
- eg:
-
- c:\ACCIDENT>Accident 1 30 (Start at part 1 with volume 30)
-
- The separate parts of the demo are like so:
- 0 - Start at the beginning.
- 1 - Start at the falling raindrops scene.
- 2 - Start at the real-time morphing effect.
- 3 - The end credits for the demo.
- 4 - The final starscape text scroller.
- Also, if you replace the first parameter with "loop", the demo will loop
- indefinitely between the beginning and the end of part 3. (credits)
- The Volume can be adjusted within the range 0-60.
-
- THIS DEMO WAS OUR VERY FIRST PRODUCTION EVER.
- NONE of the pictures are rips from outside the group, nor are the
- songs, nor is the code. The demo is genuine.
- Also, all the effects in "The Accident" are calculated REAL-TIME. There
- are absolutely NO animations whatsoever.
-
- The memberlist of Axidental is as follows:
-
- Alias Age Primary Task
-
- -BioCide (16) Main organizer, Public Representative
- -LakEEE (18) Coder, Main graphic artist
- -PsychoMan (18) Coder
- -Cyclone (17) Primary musician
- -Dark Spy (27) Renderer, graphic artist
- -Mental Floss (19) Musician
- -Edge (21) Foreign Ambassador
-
- The demo group Axidental was founded in Canada, early 1994, in the
- month of March. It was composed of five people, two of which
- were main coders, two who were graphic artists, and three musicians.
- These were LakEEE, PsychoMan, sLh, Iron Grip and Zeitgeist. The
- decision to enter Assembly 94' was made around April, and early coding
- for The Accident was started during the month of May. During this time,
- LakEEE and PsychoMan were doing most of the work, and the others were
- (unfortunately, no hard feelings, guys) less productive. This didn't
- mean they were bad coders or what not, but they weren't as driven as the
- other two. By late June, Iron Grip, sLh, and Zeitgeist were dropped
- from the group, and two new members, BioCide and Cyclone, were brought
- in. BioCide proved to be an excellent organizer and public manager,
- while Cyclone was an astounding musician. At this point, the making of
- The Accident really took off, and the whole thing was finished just in
- time, on August 2nd. During the last few months, the members Edge,
- Dark Spy and Mental Floss joined the group. These three made up the
- final people belonging to Axidental.
- The initial purpose of the creation of Axidental was to show the demo
- world that Canada was also a country with demo coders to provide some
- competition.
- We hope we made an impression!
